We need to have a balanced horse - this horse tends to sit at the back of the rectangle - meaning he can be sluggish and not as forward as I’d like. In this video we’ll ride the “back of the rectangle” so that he learns to find the center - or be just slightly ahead of me. I don’t want him blowing out the front of the rectangle, but I do want him at the front of it.

I expect a highly educated horse such as this one to hold their shape, and ride to a certain standard. Some days and on some horses I may not get there, but it’s always a goal. I almost always reach it on her. Remember to slow your seat to get the slow down and ride fast to get the speed up!

We had a malfunction with the pivo, but I do think you likely get the idea of what we are getting at with this - ride the speed you want your horse to go. If they beat you, bend them. If they don’t, you hustle them until they meet your energy. Best done in a snaffle bit.
