I teach all my horses to pick me up from the fence. It’s a safe way to get on and helpful if you’ve got a tight back, or flexibility issues. Further, it always lets you know if you’re horse is tuned into your not. When they’re tuned into you and “understand the assignment”, when you climb the fence, they’re already shimmying their way to you! It’s just about the coolest dang thing!
